An agile, lively wine where everything is in perfect balance. Touches of leather, earth, prunes and redcurrants, all with a funky, tangy top note – superb tannins and a lovely, lingering finish – unique!
๐ง๐ปโ๐พ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐พ Antoine and his wife Alice have taken over 6.5ha of vines (including 80 to 100-year-old vines) at Le Thoureil, between Angers and Saumur in the Loire Valley.
๐ฟUsing biodynamic methods and a horse-drawn plough, they grow Grolleau, Cabernet Franc, Chenin Blanc, Pineau d’Aunis and Gamay to make beautifully fruity wines with a silky texture and lovely acidity. Pure expressions of terroir!
๐ “Mas a Tierra”, 100% Pinot Noir. Hand-picked and sorted, yields around 30 hl/ha. Vinification: 30 days of whole-cluster maceration with one or two punchings of the cap, gentle pressing, 11 months of barrel ageing without racking. Bottled at the Domaine end of August 2023, without fining or filtration, micro-dose of sulfur (total SO2 <15 mg/l).
